I’m inclined to believe that…

My favourite quote from my research this week:

“I am inclined to believe that lifestyle has quite a bit to do with your health.”
Dr Ellsworth Wareham

Now what makes this quote so powerful is it’s author.

Heart surgeon Dr Wareham retired from hospital work when he was 95.

Not because he was incapable of operating any longer.

Oh no.

He stopped because he wanted to spend more time at home.

And Dr Wareham will be 102 this year.

Now then, Dr Wareham hales from Loma Linda an area in California where residents live 4 to 10 years longer than the average Californian but perhaps of even greater importance is they enjoy better health in their golden years.

The town was adopted by the founders of the Seventh-day Adventist church at the start of the 20th Century.

They believe their body is a temple for the holy spirit and as such treat it with great respect.

Dr Larry Beeson – professor of epidemiology at Loma Linda University – states the reason inhabitants live longer and healthier is due to a mix of:

Now don’t worry…

You don’t have to become a Seventh-day Adventist to live longer and age healthier.

Studies from:

Repeatedly show the same lifestyle habits can significantly help you to stack the odds of a longer, healthier and happier life in your favour.

It’s the findings from these studies that form the foundation of the principles in the ZEN+ project.

And my ongoing research into living and ageing well helps me to fine tune it.

But the bottom line is this:

There is no secret to living
and ageing well.

And in this months ZEN+ Journal I’m going to start sharing what I’m currently calling:

The Healthy Ageing Pyramid

In it I’ll show you what I consider to be the 7 most important lifestyle habits you can adopt…

Butt..

What makes this different edition different from anything else available, is I’m going to present them from what I consider to be the most important to the least important.

So what you might be wondering?

Well, doing it this way means that instead of trying to make sweeping changes in your life – which usually result in overwhelm and eventual failure…

You’ll know exactly where to focus your effors to get the most bang for your buck.

And once you’ve got that habit nailed…

You can move onto the next one.

Anyway…

I’m outta space and outta time so if you want to know what the 7 levels of The Healthy Ageing Pyramid are and in what order I think you should approach them for best results…
