“I will not kill”… The power of rules.

The Saturday quote:

Alfred: “If you keep going, you’re going to need rules, rules you cannot and will not break, never mind the reason, never mind what the circumstance.”
Bruce: “I will not kill.”

I was Johnny come lately to the the Gotham party.

I failed to see how a program set before Bruce Wayne became Batman could be of any interest.

Then, due to a slump in anything to watch, I started watching season 01.

And was hooked.

The exchange above is from last weeks episode. Alfred and young Bruce Wayne are discussing the fine line between justice and vengeance. It’s gritty stuff and provides excellent background on my favourite superhero.

And why is Batman my favourite superhero?

Cuz, he’s just a dude.

No super powers, just driven by the murder of his parents to protect the citizens of Gotham.

Anyhow…

The reason I’m sharing this with you today is because it gives me an excuse to talk to you about rules and the rules you have in your life.

Rules?

Yeah, it’s like Clarabella.

She’s a lifelong veggie and has a rule that she won’t eat anything with a face.

It’s not negotiable.

It’s not flexible.

It’s carved in stone and she sticks to it like shit to a blanket.

And I was reviewing my own rules recently.

Looking for redundancies and overlaps.

Here are a few of my rules:

Do you even know what they are?

After my last review I now have 18.

My rules make it so much easier for me to make better choices and to live my life guided by what matters most to me.

And they can do the same for you too.
