How to succeed with your healthy lifestyle goals…

I was playing Minecraft with Ollie lastnight…

And it got me thinking about The Healthy Ageing Pyramid.

Let me explain…

After a few weeks of getting all our ducks in a row we were ready to battle the end of game boss.

Also known as: The Ender Dragon

And before we teleported into The End, we reviewed our plan, got our equipment ready and jumped.

We lasted 30 seconds.

Dead.

All items lost.

Ollie was ready to quit.

But I pointed out we simply needed to adjust our plan based on what we’d learned from our far too short exposure to the Ender Dragon.

Now we have a better plan.

It’ll take us a few days to get all the parts in place and then we’ll try again.

Will we succeed?

We’ll see.

But we’ll keep adjusting and improving the plan until we are victorious.

Because that’s how winning is done.

And it’s also how you succeed with your healthy lifestyle goals too:

  1. Make a plan – Take the information you’ve got and decide what you’re going to do
  2. Work your plan – This is the all important ‘action’ part many people never do
  3. Monitor your results – After working yoru plan for a suitable perioid of time, ask: Is what you’re doing taking you nearer to your goal? Further away? Or are you just spinning your wheels getting nowhere?
  4. Make adjustments if necessary – If what you’re doing isn’t getting you what you want it’s time to improve your plan based on what you’ve learned so far.
  5. Repeat from step 2

This is the process I started following shortly after turning 40 and realising I didn’t like how I looked or felt.

And I’ve spent the last 5 years monitoring my results and making adjustments.

And I’m still fine tuning it today.

But I’m certain the big pieces essential for living and ageing well are firmly in place.

And I’ve used them to create The Healthy Ageing Pyramid (The HAP).

The HAP is made up of 7 levels.

The 7 levels I consider essential to stacking the odds of a longer, healthier and happier life in your favour.

The 7 levels – based on my research and experience – which will give you the biggest return on your time and effort.

Start with Level 01 – The foundation and most important level – and work upwards from there.

Pretty obvious huh?

But not so fast because I’ve noticed most folk seem to focus only on Level 07 and ignore all the more powerful stuff below.

In fact…

If you get the other 6 levels dialed in, you’ll find you won’t need to bother with the 7th Level.

I only added it because it can be of value to those of you whose lives are seriously out of balance because of work or family commitments.
