Happy 8th Birthday Louis and the importance of measuring stuff…

By Marcus Santer

I was looking for an old document on my hard drive yesterday.

And during the hunt I came across a video from December 2008.

I started watching it out of curiosity.

How come?

Well, I was teaching the Qigong exercise ‘Emperor Walks Heart Opens’ and I started by introducing our new puppy: Louis.

You can watch the edited 27 second low-definition video clip below:

As I watched the video I couldn’t believe how much Louis (AKA Pooky) has changed.

When I look at him today I still see the 3-month old mischievous handful of a pup he was.

But that video made me notice how much he’s changed.

Twas a good lesson.

A reminder of the importance of measuring and tracking important things if you want to keep a realistic eye on them.

Trusting these things to memory isn’t such a good idea.

So…

And so on.

If it’s important to you, find a way to measure and record it.

Cuz to paraphrase Peter Drucker, if you don’t measure it, you can’t manage it.

Anyway…

It’s Pooky’s 8th birthday today, the picture at the top of the page was taken of him fresh from this morning’s walk (what you can’t see is the dog treat I’ve got in my hand to keep his attention!).

Right, I need to get on with my new book.

Yesterday I found out Professor Walter M. Bortz MD has agreed to review it for me.

We’re talking about a major win here.

How come?

Well, in case you didn’t know, Walter is the Big Boss when it comes to living and ageing well and with his input I know I’m going to be able to create a resource which will be of even greater benefit to you.

I can’t tell you how honoured I feel to have him checking my writing.

Anyway, if I don’t get on with it, there won’t be anything for him to check!

Bye for now

Marcus

P.S The working title for my new book (coming January 2017) is The Healthy Ageing Pyramid.
