ZEN+ : Helping you Stay Young and Age Well

The tree and the rolling stone

By Marcus Santer

Clarabella and I regularly joke about each other.

She likens me to a rolling stone:

And so on, you get the picture.

And I liken Clarabella to a tree:

And so on.

You could say in many respects Clarabella and I are as different as chalk and cheese.

But where it counts we’re as alike as two peas in a pod.

Okay, enough of this, let me get to the point.

With the picture I’ve just painted you can imagine my surprise at how upset I felt walking with Clarabella and Louis through the woods yesterday and discovered my favourite tree branch had gone.

Let me explain…

When I hit 40 I had a major awakening.

Looking in the mirror at the skinny fat, 6 month pregnant belly geezer in the mirror I knew something wasn’t right.

I hated how I looked and I wasn’t overjoyed with how I felt.

And long story short, so began the journey that lead to the creation of the ZEN+ project and me being stronger and feeling better than I did in my 20’s.

Now 3 years ago when I started out building strength, the only regular exercise I got was walking Louis.

Two walks a day isn’t bad.

But as we discovered yesterday it wasn’t doing much for preventing my loss of muscle mass and strength.

Callisthenics was the answer.

And back then I didn’t have a pull up bar set up in my loft. So when it came to practicing pull ups and leg raise exercises I had to get creative. And for my first few months I used a particular tree in the woods I passed twice a day on Louis walks.

Here’s a picture of me practicing pull ups:

And here’s a video of me practicing Skinning the Cat:

I’ve been practicing on this tree, daily for over 3 years.

I know it really well.

So imagine how I felt turning the corner with Clarabella and Louis yesterday, mulling over in my head whether to crank out a few knee raises, pull ups, skin the cat or just simply hang for minute…

And seeing the branch was gone.

It hadn’t fallen down.

It hadn’t snapped in two.

It had simply vanished.

Clarabella was as shocked as I was and as we looked around on the floor and off the track, we couldn’t find it anywhere.

As a rolling stone, it’s rare for me to get attached to anything, especially a tree branch.

Maybe I’m going soft?

I don’t know.

But it’s going to be a long time before Louis’s walks feel the same without that tree to play on.

Bye for now

P.S. I spent a whole day yesterday building 1 page on the ZEN+ Home Study Course (Z+HSC).

It was the Body Weight Squat Chain:

Put it all together and you’ve got a Squatting master class.

But I’ve got to speed up, otherwise I’ll never get the Z+HSC completed by May!

Because I’ve still got:

Chains to load up.

Not to mention all the Zest, the rest of the Exercise, Nutrition and Mindset material to create.

And that’s just the Bronze Members area =)

Dang, this thing is gonna be H — U — G — E!
