5 Positive actions proven to blow you out of The Doldrums

Just in case you didn’t know…

The Doldrums is a region where two winds meet and cancel each other out.

As a result it was very difficult for sailing ships to make much progress.

But there’s a bit more too it than that.

The word: doldrum – was used long before the region on the map now called ‘The Doldrums’.

And then it was used to describe someone in low spirits.

It’s an experience I can relate to.

You see contrary to what you might believe, I still experience highs and lows.

And I often get caught in the doldrums.

Luckily ZEN+ makes sure I don’t stay there for long.

And earlier this year I spent a month researching scientifically proven paths to get you out of the doldrums.

My findings included:

Including the findings of a study funded by the UK’s Government Office for Science. The aim of this study was to find 5 positive actions you can take to improve your well being, the quality of your life and bust out of the doldrums.

  2. Be Active – Give your body what it needs to make you happy
  3. Take Notice – Think mindfulness and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
  4. Keep Learning – One of my favourite positive actions
  5. Give – It’s all to do with your inbuilt reward system.
