ZEN+ : Helping you Stay Young and Age Well

Lava is the fire in which we all burn

By Marcus Santer

The Saturday Quote:

“You now have the least amount of time you’ve ever had, to do everything you’ve ever wanted to do. Enjoy your life. You only get one.”
Ricky Gervais

If you were smart and fast enough to pre-order a copy of the new ZEN+ book…

You’ll be pleased to know I spoke with the printers yesterday and they’re saying the books will be delivered to me on Monday or Tuesday.

So not long to wait now.

This weekend I’ll be typing up the welcome letter, finishing off the address labels, custom declarations and for my ZEN+ Journal readers, I’ll also pop January’s Journal in for you too.

So when the books arriveā€¦

All I have to do is sign them and put them in an envelope.

Anyway, yesterday evening I was having some downtime with Ollie and we were playing Minecraft together.

We were deep in a cave, looking for coal, iron ore and most importantly diamonds.

As I approached a steep drop and discussed with Ollie the best way to get down without dying, I was attacked by a skeleton archer. His arrow struck me and I was knocked back.

But as I was on the edge of a cliff, I fell to what I thought was going to be my death.

Fortunately, there was a small river at the bottom of the canyon.

It’s totally nuts.

Makes me think of some guy at the fair, climbing up a huge ladder and diving into an inch of water.

As I dragged myself out of the pond, I didn’t see a hole in the floor and I fell down it and into a pool of lava.

Within seconds I was toast.

Much to Ollie’s amusement.

And I said: “Lava is the fire in which we all burn.”

Which got me thinking.

Where had I heard that before?

A quick check revealed two sources:

  1. A line in a poem by Delmore Schwartz called: Calmly we walk through this April’s day
  2. An exchange between Jean-Luc Picard and Dr Tolian Soran in the film Star Trek Generations

Gotta love the Internet.

Now I wish I could say it was the poem I was remembering, but nope, it was the Star Trek film.

Anyway, I wanted to take this opportunity to remind you how very precious time is.

I know I keep going on about this subject.

But if you’re anything like me, it’s so easy to forget the importance of time when you’re busy rushing around like a fart in a whirlpool.

Consider this a gentle reminder.

Have a wonderful weekend =)

Bye for now

P.S. Because I know I wouldn’t sleep tonight if I didn’t offer you an opportunity to invest in one of my quality, life enhancing products…
