ZEN+ : Helping you Stay Young and Age Well

Knowing is easy, Doing is hard

By Marcus Santer

The Sunday Quote:

“Eat Well
Move Well
Sleep Well”
Mark Tremblay

One of the best bits of my job is reading and research.

I’m like a dry sponge soaking up all that lovely lovely knowledge =)

And a few days ago I was reading a very interesting article called: Heavy sitting linked to disease and death, even with regular exercise. One of the contributors to the article was Mark Tremblay: director of Healthy Active Living and Obesity research at the children’s hospital of Eastern Ontario in Canada.

I liked the way he summed up healthy living.

But if you’ve been a ZEN+ Daily reader for a while, you’ll already know that to stay healthy you need to:

  1. Energise
  2. Move More
  3. Eat Right
  4. Cultivate your mind

You know this.

But if there’s one mistake I kept making for decades it was believing that knowing was enough.

That somehow by knowing stuff I’d benefit from it.

And for more years than I’m comfortable admitting I couldn’t understand how I could know so much and yet be steadily getting fatter, weaker, sicklier and increasingly more miserable.

That’s when I finally woke up and smelled the coffee.

That’s when I understood knowing was of little benefit. It’s doing where change happens.

And shortly after I discovered:

Knowing is easy, doing is hard

Trust me, you know all you need to know to live a happier, healthier and longer life. And if all you did was follow Marks’s advice to: Eat well, move well and sleep well – you’d be set. Consider it a stripped down simpler version of ZEN+.

If I ever make a ZEN+ Lite program it would only focus on:

I’d call it the SEN =)

Joking aside, let’s get serious again.

If knowledge alone was power Librarians would be the most powerful overlords the Universe has ever known. They’d be the gatekeepers of power. But the fact is, it’s only when you combine knowledge and taking action that you can create powerful, lasting change.

The kind of change that makes those around you sit up and take notice.

But I’ll say it again because repetition deepens the impression:

Knowing is easy, doing is hard

And that’s where I can help you.

If you need:

I’m your huckleberry

More details here.

Bye for now

P.S. Here’s that link again.

I call it my ‘Done with you program

You, see in a perfect world, you’d hand over your body to me, and 3 months later I’d hand it back to you in the best shape you could possible remember it being in.

But a ‘Done for you program‘ like that simply isn’t possible.

Nor would it be desirable either.

Because it’s not just doing what you need to do to live a happier, healthier and longer life.

Ugh, ugh.

It’s who you become in the process.

Because if such a ‘Done for your program‘ existed, it would only take a few months for you to undo all of the hard work I’d put into your body.

Truth is, some things you can only do for yourself.

Which is great because it means the wins and the satisfaction of success is all yours.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t get help and support.

And it’s available to you right here.
