ZEN+ : Helping you Stay Young and Age Well

It happened 15 years ago today in Nottingham

By Marcus Santer

28 years ago I broke up with my first proper girlfriend.

I was 15 and I wanted to focus on revising for my end of school exams and she was too much of a distraction.

Crazy too as it turned out.

You see, about a month later I got a note from her telling me she was pregnant with my baby. Which was pretty clever because we’d never had sex.

Trouble is she told everyone else in the school too.

And because my way of dealing with the situation was simply to have nothing to do with her, I became the guy everyone loved to hate. But she was determined and kept sending me notes asking why I was being so horrible to her and what about the baby?

You can imagine what happened when my mum found one of her stupid notes in my school blazer pocket.

Dang! Wonder the neighbours didn’t call the police.

Anyway, long, painful story short: It all turned out to be B.S. of course, but the damage had been done.

I met my second proper girlfriend at college.

A few months later I discovered she was seeing someone else behind my back.

After that I took some time out from dating after that.

I met my third proper girlfriend at University.

And she dumped me after about three years because as she put it: I was a lovely guy, but I was never going to amount to much and provide her with the security she felt she needed in life.

With my track record I think you’ll agree with me when I say I never felt I was very lucky with women.

But in 1993 my luck finally changed…

It was September 6th when I first met Clarabella at Nottingham Central Library.

I was doing a year long placement as a pre-professional, one of the steps towards becoming a fully fledged librarian. Funny thing is I should never have even got an interview for the job because my degree grade wasn’t high enough.

So was it luck, fate, destiny or just a happy accident?

I don’t know.

But I do know Clarabella and I should never have met.

And every day whilst walking Louis and doing my gratitude list I’m grateful that we did.

You see 15 years ago today Clarabella and I got married at West Bridgford registry office in Nottingham.

You can see a picture of us here.

Now if you’ve read the ZEN+ book you’ll already know how important social connections are to your happiness and well being. And studies prove a good marriage makes you happier and I’m delighted to say I’ve been blessed with one.

The studies also show there are other ingredients that can nurture your happiness and well being and there are specific activities you can engage in to promote happiness too.

It’s all covered in Aprils ZEN+ Journal.

I do the research, so you don’t have to. You simply reap the rewards by putting what I have to share with you into action.

And if you become a ZEN+ Journal reader today you’ll benefit from my better than risk free two month guarantee and I’ll send you a £67 gift simply for giving it a try.

All the risk is on me.

Full details here.

Bye for now

P.S. If you’re a client and you write to me today I won’t be able to answer.

You see, Clarabella and I are off out to celebrate our crystal wedding anniversary and I won’t be back in the Woffice until tomorrow.
