ZEN+ : Helping you Stay Young and Age Well

“I’ll cut your heart out… With a spoon!”

By Marcus Santer

The Saturday Quote:

“Locksley, I’ll cut your heart out with a spoon!”
Sheriff of Nottingham (Alan Rickman)

Wow, what a crappy week.

Alan Rickman and David Bowie both dying aged 69.

That’s no age all.

Cancer: Pancreatic and Liver

What is cancer?

This from Cancer Research UK:

“Cancer is when abnormal cells divide in an uncontrolled way. Some cancers may eventually spread into other tissues. There are more than 200 different types of cancer.”

So is there anything you can do to avoid cancer?

There are a number of things known to increase your chances of having it:

So do what you can to avoid the items on the list above is going to help.

Because studies show your risk of cancer isn’t purely down to fate, dodgy genes or bad luck.

And according to the good folks at Cancer Research UK 4 in 10 cases of cancer could be prevented by lifestyle changes.

But the truth is the only certainties in life are: Death and taxes.

Which means there are folk who smoke like chimneys, drink like fish and eat like pigs for decades and are cancer free.

[Though I’ve never met one]

Yet a tea-total, non-smoking, health nut ends up with cancer.

S’not fair is it?

Well, last time I checked, this is life we’re living and life isn’t fair.

So what do you do?

Throw caution to the wind and take your chances?

You could.

But personally I prefer to rig this game called life.

I like to stack the odds of a longer, healthier and happier life in my favour by following as many evidence based approaches to staying strong, fit and healthy as I can.

There are no guarantees Bubba.

It’s your life.

You’re free to make whatever choices you want.

You’re just not free to avoid the consequences of those choices.

Man, ain’t I the heavy bummer this morning?

So let’s end this ZEN+ Daily with a David Bowie Quote:

“I don’t know where I’m going from here,
but I promise it won’t be boring.”

Right, I’m off out for a walk in the rolling Devon hills with Louis.

It’s a frosty morning which means I won’t have to give him a bucket bath when I get back…

You on the other hand should do yourself a favour and check this out.

Bye for now
