Why I went to work in my underpants yesterday

Before I go any further, you need to realise everything I do here is for your benefit.

Including going to work in my underpants.

Let me explain…

Fortunately I work from home, so if I wanted to I could work in my birthday suit. Though I don’t think passers by would appreciate it.

But yesterday was special.

Yesterday was when I took the photographs for the ZEN+ Bridge Chain.

What’s that you might be asking?

Well, it’s all to do with the E in ZEN+ = Exercise.

Over the last few months in the ZEN+ Journal I’ve released:

The ZEN+:

  1. Push up Chain
  2. Pull up Chain
  3. Squat Chain

These 3 chains form the core for using calisthenics for building strength – ZEN+ Style.

You might also be wondering why I used the word ‘chain’?

Well, what is a chain made up of? That’s right: Links. And each ZEN+ calisthenics chain is made up of links. So for example the Pull up chain is made up of the following 6 links:

  1. Vertical pulls
  2. Let me ins
  3. Horizontal pull ups
  4. Chin ups
  5. Pull ups
  6. Close pull ups

With each link in the chain being slightly harder than the one before it.

I’ve done it this way so everyone can find a comfortable place to start and if they put in the necessary time and commitment they can move onto the next link and so on.

The last two chains I wanted to make available are:

  1. Leg raise chain – For developing a strong and healthy front midsection.
  2. Bridging chain – For developing a strong and healthy back midsection.

A lot of you may be familiar with the idea of building Abs of Titanium strong enough to deflect speeding bullets – vast fortunes have been built upon the very idea.

But if you don’t develop your back midsection too, you’re going to be out of balance.

And being out of balance causes all kinda problems you don’t want.

Not to mention that bridge work done progressively (as I’ll show you) give you the following benefits:

And in this months ZEN+ Journal I’m going to show you two routes you can take through the bridging chain:

  1. Dynamic – Helps to build muscle, endurance and joint strength.
  2. Static – Align your spine, refresh your discs and increase mobility.

What’s that?

Don’t’ worry, because I’ve got you covered.

Because I’ll also share a very important exercise with you that can help. I was taught this back in 2013 when I went to visit the Egoscue clinic in Arlington. Egoscue is a postural therapy program designed to treat muscular skeletal pain.

Onwards…

So why was I working in my under-crackers yesterday?

Because of a system I use to make sure the photos that accompany the written instructions for each chain are as useful and easy to understand as possible.

Here’s how it works:

  1. I take photos of me doing each link.
  2. Then I put in dots on each of my joints using photoshop.
  3. Next I print these photos off, connect the dots and draw in the hands, feet and head.

And what you end up with is something like this.

Personally I think a stickman is a heckovalot easier to follow than a photo of me, pretty as I might be.

P.S. I used to take these photographs fully dressed.

But I often found it difficult to work out exactly where my various joints were.

Underwear was the answer =)

And yes, I also provide video tuition for all the links in all the chains, after all a picture may paint 1,000 words, but a video is easier to learn from with this kinda stuff.

But don’t worry, I put my trousers back on for the vids!
