Discover the King of all lower body exercises

By Marcus Santer

The Sunday Quote:

“The squat is the king of all lower body exercises.”
Commonly held belief

Twenty years ago when I first went exploring S.E.Asia I quickly learned the benefit of squatting.

Toilets fitted in the hotels in my price bracket where all of the hole-in-the-ground variety. And at night playing chess for cigarettes on the cracked street pavements next to running sewerage meant sitting on the floor was a no go.

Squatting was vital.

Squatting is one of the most functional exercises, allowing you to pick things up from the floor and lift them safely.

Squat regularly and here are some of the benefits you can expect:

And in spite of what you might think, your body has evolved to do full ass-to-the-grass squats. Though decades of sitting on a sofa or a chair may make this currently seem impossible.

Now whilst there’s no such thing as the ‘perfect’ squat, here are some important pointers for you to consider:

You can see a picture of how I squat below:

Squatting is so cool, you don’t even have to do it as exercise to gain it’s benefits. I.e. instead of doing it for repetitions, you can just hold it for time.

Ido Portal, one of my ‘Move More’ heroes started a campaign encouraging folk to stay in the squat position for 30 minutes a day.

Straight up.

The squat works every muscle in your legs, abs and lower back.

But before you get all carried away keep in mind:

The full squat isn’t something you have to achieve in a few days. And if you haven’t squatted since you were a child, then you’re unlikely to get it any time soon. But that’s fine because the squat is something you want to be practising regularly for the rest of your life.

Well, if you value your mobility =)

Oh, and that creaking, cracking and popping sound you hear coming from your knees?

It’s nothing to worry about so long as there’s no pain or discomfort attached with it.

If there is… STOP!

In the ZEN+ Home Study Course (Z+HSC) I’ll show you 5 exercises to help you take bodyweight squats further than you thought possible.

Each exercise is progressively harder than the one before it.

And no matter where you’re starting from, you’ll find a safe place to begin practising the squat.

You’ll also get a short, clear instructional video and comprehensive written instructions, with pictures for each link in the ZEN+ Bodyweight Squat chain.

In the Z+HSC you’ll also get full video and written instructions for the ZEN+:

Together they form a comprehensive full body routine you can use to build strength without setting foot inside a gym.

And this is just the Building Strength part of the Exercise part of ZEN+

I’ll also be covering Walking and HIT in detail too.

The Z+HSC is going to be huge.

Every aspect of ZEN+ will be expanded and covered in detail like you’ve never seen before. It will be the only tool you’ll ever need to live a longer, healthier and happier life.

And it’s coming soon.

Bye for now

Marcus

P.S. If you don’t want to wait for the Z+HSC, best place to get started is with the ZEN+ book.

And if you’ve already got the ZEN+ book…

Did you do the 30-Day Challenge?

Remember, knowing is easy, doing is hard!
