ZEN+ : Helping you Stay Young and Age Well

Do you know what disappointment is?

By Marcus Santer

O llie was laying in my bed last night breaking my heart.

He was talking about how disappointed he was with his operation…

About how he wished he hadn’t chosen to have it done.

Let me explain…

Ollie has a right side hemiplegia, basically the right side of his body doesn’t work so good. One of the challenges it’s presented him with is a 3cm difference in the length of his legs.

Which as you can probably imagine makes walking an even tougher proposition than it already is for him.

By drilling into the growth plates in his ‘good’ knee the goal is to slow the growth of his left leg down so his hemi leg can catch up.

That’s my understanding of it.

And as you can also imagine having holes drilled into the bones of your knee is gonna leave it pretty sore and make walking feel like “…an 81 year old man in a 14 years old body and it’s slow and painful” – Ollies exact words when I asked him just now.

But rewind back to last night and Ollie was feeling proper miserable.

Clarabella and I listened as he got it all off his chest and then I asked him this question:

“Do you know what disappointment is?”

And as he was thinking about it, I answered with:

“Disappointment is taking score too soon. It’s gonna take time for you to notice the benefits of today. “

He understood.

Though I still think it’s going to be a few days before he stops ‘hind sighting‘ himself.

And as I lay in bed this morning trying to get up and failing (rough night with Ollie) I was reflecting on “taking score too soon”.

My work with Qigong students and Stay Young clients has shown me taking score too soon is a major reason why they quit their practice before they start to see the benefits they want.

Experience has convinced me any activity that takes time to show results is going to have a high drop out rate.

Why is this?

I believe it’s because of the instant, on-demand, want it now world we live in.

And all too often we expect instant results too.

Which is unrealistic.

Sorry to have to be the one to stand up against the tide of BS marketing and tell you Qigong and healthy lifestyle choices don’t work like that.

So if you’re expecting:

Or instant anything to be honest, then my work and my products aren’t going to be a good fit for you.

**Wait a minute…**

Did you hear that?

That was the sound of everyone else reading this leaving.

Which means it’s just you and me here now.

But that’s fine because I much prefer working with smart folk like you who haven’t been seduced by slick marketing into thinking change is quick and easy.

And if you can accept worthwhile change takes time and if you want to stack the odds of a stronger, healthier and more independent life in your favour…

… I recommend you get started with my most up to date book:
