ZEN+ : Helping you Stay Young and Age Well

A simple way to burn off fat and repair your body

By Marcus Santer

The Sunday Quote:

“Being such a new area of science, there’s still limited data on human studies. But one proposed mechanism is that when we don’t eat for several hours, the liver stops secreting glucose into the blood stream and instead used the glucose to repair cell damage. The liver also releases enzymes that break down our cholesterol into acid. These acids then dissolve brown fat, and this brown fat in turn converts calories into heat. Therefore, during our fasting period, the liver is helping to burn off fat and repair our bodies.”

I read this in a blog post talking about restricted eating periods AKA: Intermittent Fasting (IF).

In my research on IF I’ve already mentioned how it has been linked to:

  1. Decreased Body Fat and Weight – Fasting gives your body no choice but to start burning fat for energy. Fasting can also be used to maintain your ideal body weight.
  2. Decreased Blood Glucose Levels – Your body aims to maintain the amount of sugar in your blood. But if you’re constantly eating, it struggles to process and maintain this balance. Prolonged high blood sugar levels age your body and are associated with diabetes, heart attack and stroke.
  3. Decreased Insulin Levels and Increased Insulin Sensitivity – Poor insulin sensitivity reduces your ability to process carbohydrates effectively. Increased insulin sensitivity is essential if you want to avoid type II diabetes, high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol levels and heart disease.
  4. Increased Growth Hormone Levels – Human Growth Hormone (HGH) is responsible for maintaining growth and lean body mass. Fasting is the safest, cheapest and most reliable way to increase the amount of growth hormone in your body. One study found fasting can increase HGH in women by 1,300% and by 2,000% in men.
  5. Increased Cellular Cleansing – Healthier cells = younger, healthier you.
  6. Improved Brain Health – By stimulating the process of neurogenesis (creating new brain cells), fasting can also help to shield your neurons from oxidative damage and resist brain ageing.
  7. Improved Digestion – If your gut health is poor, your health will be poor. Even if you eat the best food in the world, if your gut health is compromised you won’t be getting all the nutritional benefits.

I’ve been practicing IF daily for over 4 years and love it.

I stop eating around 9pm every night and start again at 1pm the next day. So I have an eating window of 8 hours. Of course I drink plenty of water, green tea and coffee during my fast.

This system has worked wonders for me.

And I’ve tried other types of fasting like:

I strongly recommend you self experiment and see what works best for you.

Because fasting has a lot of very valuable – and well documented – health benefits to offer you.

And if you’d like a hand I suggest you grab yourself a back issue of Volume 02 Issue 04 of the ZEN+ Journal. In that issue I’d been practicing IF for 3 years and shared all my results and findings.

It will make your own IF experiment so much easier.

Now back issues of the Journal are usually only available to current subscribers.

But for a limited period of time I’m making them available to regular readers of this ZEN+ Daily email.

Bye for now

P.S. There’s no pill on the market that can do for you what Intermittent Fasting can offer you.

If there was it would be a multi-bazillion product.

I’ve been practicing one variation of it for 4 years and I hand on heart suggest you investigate it further.

It doesn’t cost a cent to practice IF, perhaps that’s why it’s not very popular? I mean there’s not much for businesses to market really. No branded food products or bits of equipment. You simply restrict your eating.

For more information on IF I recommend you read Volume 02 Issue 04 of the ZEN+ Journal.
